"Bidden or not bidden, God is present."

The
Pledge Of Allegiance
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United
States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation,
under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." |
|
The ornament at the top broke off during the fall from the top of the WTC.
I decided that it would be appropriate if it had been an eagle instead of
just a brass ball. Thus, I painted a "live" eagle spreading its wings,
ready to fly. In the song, "God Bless America," a line reads, "...through
the night with a light from above." I painted in the Heavenly light as if
God was strengthening the American people. The same eagle can be seen
overhead as if it has risen above the WTC. |

Song
by Cherokee singing group, Walela
(Rita Coolidge, her sister, and niece)
"THE GATHERING OF EAGLES"
"And I dream of a gathering of eagles,
Where boundaries are broken and gone,
Where pain is no longer forsaken,
And all human battles are won!" |

The Star Spangled Banner
"Oh say can you see,
by the dawns early light,
What so proudly is hailed
At the twilights last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd
were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets red glare,
The bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night
That our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that Star-spangled
Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free
and the home of the brave? |

In
honor of our shared Cherokee heritage here in the mountains of Eastern
Kentucky, a Cherokee phase is written just above the song, "God Bless
America."

The
eagle....a symbol of strength. Located on the mural above the
firefighters raising the flag. |

A little known fact about the WTC recovery is that the ironworkers are
Native Americans, Mohawk. This is very emotionally stressful to the fire
fighters and the ironworkers. In honor of their dedication, a Mohawk phase
is written above the large American flag.

our minds are one" |

Since
France donated the Statue Of Liberty to the USA, the message on the base of
the statue is recorded here. Even though it is written in English, it is
represented here in French.

De ma lumiere, j'eclaire la porte d'or!" |
